Welcome to John Ford DP Ltd! I'm a cameraman, cinematographer, and Director of Photography based in London with over 20 years experience in the commercial and corporate film industry. I have a comprehensive kit list and am commitment to excellence.

I specialize in producing promotional films that have a cinematic aesthetic. Whether it's crafting dramatic narratives or capturing authentic documentary-style footage, my goal is to create visually stunning and emotionally engaging content that creates an emotional impact.

I’ve worked for a broad range of clients, either through agencies or direct. My Documentary work has led me to work with Broadcasters such as BBC, Channel 4 and Bloomberg, creating promotional or educational content. I’ve worked with some of the highest names in fashion including LVMH, Dior and Tiffanies. I’ve made many films for well known brands such as Red Bull, Gousto, Unilever, Vox, Behringer, Korg and many many more. However one of my biggest passions is to work with charities creating content that makes a real difference! I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world, across 6 continents and more than 60 countries, with organisations such as WWF, Save the Children, World Vision, CAFOD and the MET Police.

I’ve also been lucky enough to work with some of the my heros and am delighted to have filmed with Sir David Attenborough, Brian May and more recently Eric Clapton, as well as many, many other well known presenters, politicians and celebrities.

My equipment arsenal is extensive and carefully selected to ensure the highest quality results. I work with top-of-the-line cameras such as the Alexa, Red Gemini, Sony FX6, Sony FX3, and Blackmagic Pocket 6k Pro, paired with a diverse range of lenses including Leica, anamorphic lenses, and my in-house Sigma Art series primes. Lighting plays a crucial role in my work, and I have a whole lot of Aputure lighting kit at my disposal, supplemented by additional equipment sourced from trusted rental houses. With my Ronin RS3 kit, Teradek Bolt 6, wireless monitors, and various sliders and rail kits, I have plenty of fun tools to bring your vision to life.

With my comprehensive kit, I arrive on set fully equipped, eliminating the hassle of sourcing equipment for production companies. I enjoy working with small crews, leveraging available light to create moving and atmospheric imagery. However, for larger projects, I have a network of exceptional crew members that I can tap into, ensuring a seamless and successful collaboration.

My ideal clients are production companies with a strong roster of brands, and I particularly thrive when working with music brands. Additionally, I'm eager to delve into more TV productions, I would LOVE to work on high-end content for programs like Panorama, BBC's Click, or The Repair Shop - so if you know anyone who works on these… let me know! Based in South East London, I am available for projects across the country and beyond, willing to travel wherever the work takes me.
